I'd be inclined to question from the other end if the issue. There may well be things Winzip does that 7-zip doesn't, but are any of them needed by the user in question? Does 7-zip do everything they need?. If it does, the case is made for replacing an out-of-date version of Winzip with 7-zip. Usually when I've encountered people using Winzip it's usually because they recognised the name and installed it on that basis alone. I'd be surprised if 7-zip doesn't do everything that the user in question requires - and probably a lot more they'll never need.
.Taken from another post. Winzip costs $29.95. 7zip is free and open source. Winzip creates archives only in zip format. 7zip creates archives in zip, 7zip (7z), bzip2 (bz2), and a few other formats. Both can read archives in a wide range of formats including each others'. 7zip format generally compresses better than Winzip in their native formats, but is not as fast.
Both are based on LZ77, which compresses by replacing string matches with pointers to earlier occurrences. The zip format uses deflate, which encodes matches using Huffman codes. 7zip uses LZMA, which uses context models and arithmetic coding to encode matches and literals.
Context modeling is slower but compresses better. LZMA also uses a larger window to allow coding more distant matches. This improves compression, but requires more memory. Deflate is a very old standard. It specified only a 32 KB window at a time when that was a lot of memory. He's worried that the customer won't be able to open the files (a standard, password-protected file archive in a.ZIP format). I want to replace the outdated software with 7ZIP to save cost - which is capable of AES-256 encryption - but the user has his doubts about it. Is there anything that WinZip can do that 7ZIP can't? 1) AES-256 Encryption 7-Zip also supports encryption with AES-256 algorithm. This algorithm uses cipher key with length of 256 bits. To create that key 7-Zip uses derivation function based on SHA-256 hash algorithm.
A key derivation function produces a derived key from text password defined by user. For increasing the cost of exhaustive search for passwords 7-Zip uses big number of iterations to produce cipher key from text password. Taken from 7Zip's website: For me, I've always regarded 7zip as the better choice for compression tool (i've tested it myself) Furthermore, its FREE. So yes, it does save some money. If you deal with translation wordings, then you might need to use WINRAR due to the encoding issue. This is what i've learnt and tested out the software by myself. As what Sam Gates has mentioned, whatever doubts & concerns that your end user has, note them down and test it out whether 7zip can perform the task(s).

Node-v6.10.1-win-x64.zip node-v6.10.1-win-x86.zip When extracting either of these 2 files I get a Windows 7 Error, 'Path too long' I'm not sure how this can be published and work, since the limitations of Windows and it's file name issues are well known. And although I hold Microsoft fully responsible for their problem; I also know that others and I are going to have problems with this when leveraging Window RG.
